The Galileo Underground

Daring to Dream

The Galileo Underground is a group of scientists, philosophers and technocrates devoted to the research and development of scientific advancements at a grass roots level. We welcome anyone who wishes to delve into the mysteries of the world around them, anyone who wants to understand it all, or simply anyone who thinks they'll need friends they can call when the angry mob of villagers is storming their Laboratory. We host a number of events, including monthly dinner parties/discussion groups on various speculative topics. Please contact galileo@academy23.org for more details.

The Underground has a few popular groups seeking new blood...

Although healing is as much, if not more, of an art as it is a science, The Curatus is happy to make its home among such noble Prometheans. The Curatus is an organization dedicated to promoting all aspects of health. It's a place for healers of all fields, theories, systems, and backgrounds to come together, learn from one another and share resources. Though science may provide us with many new tools, it must never cease to norish and protect the first and most important tool we each receive, the human body. To learn more about the Curatus, write them at curatus@academy23.org, and check out their Upcoming Events.

Concerned with the scientific forntier that is the mind, The Neuronautical Husker's Society derives its name from its member's penchant for braving the inner waters of the psyche, and from "Husking," which is a game that is played at nearly every meeting to help accomplish this end. On behalf of Academy 23, the neuronauts explore all manner of mental phenomena related to E.S.P. and telekinetic ability, as well as hypnosis and other altered states. Our members meet in study groups to research both classic and contemporary areas of psychology, from From Chan Buddhism to Willhelm Reich, M.K.Ultra and N.L.P. Other research conducted by this Pillar has been concerned with ways to increase the power and focus of the mind as to learn faster and easier, or to increase the overall performance of the body. For more information, write to neuronauts@academy23.org, and view their Events Page

The Spider Syndicate explores the many uses of the internet as well as computers in general. One of this group's projects, which is currently still underway, is the development of "Looking Glass City." This online resource, which is basically a bulletin board and some chatrooms that makes use of about a hundred webcams, will allow all Academy 23 members the chance to post their own daily events and personal doings, as to better synch up with the rest of the Academy, while providing each Pillar with their own virtual space to hold various events online and stay in touch. Without the Spider Syndicate, you probably wouldn't even be reading these words, but with them, we will soon be everywhere. Thanks guys! (To contact the Spider Syndicate, write to spiders@academy23.org. Events are posted here.)

Jack Parsons Labs is our gadgets and gizmos group. Technicians, inventors and mad-sceintist of any flavor are always needed to help with the design and construction of many currently unknown or unmarketed Wonders; funding may be available for exceptional projects. Please email jpl@academy23.org with your proposal or to perhaps contribute to whatever projects we're currently developing.

The Pythagoras Project, our mathematics group, is offering a series of lecture/discussions on Mathematics and Metaphysics. You can get more information from pythagoras@academy23.org, or go to their Events. This is a good group for students seeking to further immerse themselves in their field.

Finally, it is our sincere desire to encourage the independant pursuit of scientific understanding in whatever ways we can. To this end, we have a number of teachers we can put at your disposal, and are pleased to offer professional tutoring services in all branches of the sciences for both members and the general public; to arrange for this, please contact sara@academy23.org. We also have a small lending library of texts available to members.

We Have The Power.

The Galileo Underground brings scientists to each other and science to the people, as it promotes the growth of all human technologies, both mental and physical.
