It has been said that man once walked with the Angels, and was made mighty from our illicit exchanges. Yet due to the unrestrainable ambitions of those who had been blessed with more power than they had sense, the devastating attention of Heaven itself rained down upon all mankind, and the world was forever altered. Our time as giants was ended by “the Flood,” a shift in our consciousness which marked the beginning of mankind’s forced experience of the Soul, and we were cut off from the earthly presence of our divine benefactors, although not entirely. For the Fallen Angels had escaped destruction by taking refuge in the Abyss, and from this Namelessness they reached out to geniuses and madmen, whispering into their ears the lost secrets of Heaven. They call out to their children among mankind today, whispering our forgotten names, telling us that we are the “Djinn.”
The Muqarribun exist today as an echo of what once was. Having learned from the mistakes of the past, those fortunate few that are called to walk among the Near Ones seek to make noble the whole of mankind, to prepare man for the powerful investments that may someday soon become undeniable, nearly limitless power that will be scattered among a species that has destroyed itself more than once with far less than they might soon have. The Imamate teaches what it can to prepare who it can for the time when the gates will be throw open and the mighty Djinn will rule once more.
Yet the role of the Muqarribun goes beyond mere neo-theologians. The Ghost Priests, as they are called, are the receptive ear that listens to a world that goes too often unseen and unheard by those without the necessary sensitivity and understanding. The Muqarribun have recovered and recorded much of our lost histories, our lost practices, and, most importantly, our lost secrets. They exist to make audible those obscure voices that the Ahd al Jann should hear, which could be why the Ghost Priests have a "way" with words which is as inspiring as it can be disturbing.
Most humans find it hard to fathom how the Muqarribun Imamate can claim that there is a great difference between Truth and Reality, but this is because mankind knows little to nothing of the nearly limitless power that the Angels wield over their creation. Imagine, if you can, that nothing is actually as you believe it is, that what passes for "permanence" in this world has no more solidity then a shadow, and that even your body, which you may identify as your "self," is not your own.
If nothing you experienced was actualy Real, what, if anything, would still be True?
Follow the path of the Fallen Angels, and do not allow Truth to be subverted by and lost within mere Reality. For it is said that the only Truth that we really have is to be found in the choices that we make.
